CBD and Aging

Throughout the centuries, people have used plants for their natural healing benefits and anti-aging properties. The hemp plant, which contains large amounts of CBD, is no exception.

It has been valued for its ability to:

  • reduce pain and inflammation
  • protect nerve cells, organs and tissues
  • boost biological systems

These abilities may bring about greater health and wellness as people age.

Aging is a complex process involving biology, emotional health and various environmental and social factors. It involves much more than diseases and disorders.

Instead, it can be viewed in terms of independence, quality of life, purpose and meaning. Despite this, as people age, they may encounter certain physical, emotional, or neurological challenges that can interfere with healthy living.

Many age-related conditions have been studied by experts and there’s some compelling evidence indicating that CBD may benefit many of them.

CBD possesses several anti-aging qualities including:

  • natural anti-inflammatory effects
  • ability to reduce pain and discomfort
  • improve quality of sleep
  • decrease stress and anxiety
  • improve mood and cognitive functioning
  • increase appetite and lower blood pressure

Some older adults and seniors are turning to CBD topicals and using it for their skin. The skin is our largest organ and is exposed to both internal and external threats to its health and stability. With age, the skin becomes less firm, develops more lines and wrinkles, and produces less collagen. It also becomes thinner and more delicate. Oil glands don’t work like they used to which can make skin dry.

CBD is known to be a powerful antioxidant and according to some experts, it may be a far better antioxidant than both vitamins C and E. In this way, CBD may slow down the aging process of the skin, producing younger looking skin at older ages. CBD is also an anti-inflammatory and can help the skin to naturally heal itself.

Plant-based anti-aging methods are nothing new and have been used for thousands of years around the world. We now have more science to back up what people throughout history have claimed for a long time. CBD, when taken regularly, can improve many conditions associated with the aging process.
